JOB PURPOSE:

This position serves as the general maintenance and repair person; responsible for keeping facilities and vehicles in clean, sanitary and safe conditions. The essential purpose for this position is to keep facilities cleaned and in good condition on a regular basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:

  • Maintains classrooms, bathrooms, common space in a clean and healthy condition; sweeps, scrubs, mops, washes and polishes and vacuums floors.
  • Maintains outdoor areas clean and free of debris at all times, including playgrounds, walkways, front entries and parking lots.
  • Operates a variety of custodial equipment.
  • Assembles and moves furniture as needed.(secures furniture 36” and taller to walls)
  • Performs minor maintenance and know technical repairs on buildings and grounds including replacing, adding lights and removing graffiti.
  • Reviews/assess custodian binder daily to complete work request.
  • Reviews/assess work orders and monitoring reports.
  • Maintains all indoor and outdoor equipment in a safe and attractive condition, painting and repairing as needed.
  • Daily check of facility and ground for safety, health, and fire hazard; this infraction must be reported immediately to the compliance coordinator for immediate correction.
  • Provides delivery of materials and goods to each facility as needed. (Water, cleaning supplies, janitorial supplies, classroom supplies…)
  • Attends all assigned meetings and trainings sessions as required by the program.
  • Supports and ensures the achievement of recruitment and enrollment goals.
  • Assists in accomplishing the program’s non-federal share through the access of community resources (services, donations, discounts, and/or goods)
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

(KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE):

  • Skill
  • Skill in written and oral communication.
  • Possess manual dexterity and ability to use tools, devices and equipment.
  • Ability to take verbal instructions and comprehend written instruction and interpret diagrams.

B. Experience

Minimum of two (2) years general maintenance, janitorial and transportation experience is desired, preferably in a social or child development related program.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid California Driver’s License and insurance coverage
  • Must pass the following background checks prior to start of employment:
    • Sex Offender Registry
    • Child Abuse and Neglect State Registry
    • State or Tribal Criminal History Check, including fingerprints
    • FBI Criminal History Check, including fingerprints
  • Must have verification of T.B. clearance at time of employment, to be renewed every two years (every 4 years for chest x-rays).
  • Must complete a physical examination at time of employment, to be renewed every two years.
  • Provide proof of the following immunizations as required: Measles, Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Influenza.
  • COVID vaccination required; must have two-dose series of Pfizer or Moderna or a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson. Those that need a medical or religious exemption must reach out separately.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The working conditions and physical demands of this position will be those that must be met to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. The physical environment the incumbent will work in is typically an office environment with moderate noise levels that would be expected in that type of work environment.

  • T.B. Test within the past six months prior to employment, and every two (2) years thereafter (every 4 years for a chest X-ray).
  • Must pass a physical examination at the time of hire, and every 2 years thereafter
  • Provide proof of the following immunizations as required: Measles, Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Influenza.
  • Representative physical demands of the job include: normal vision and hearing, standing for extended periods, sitting for extended periods, kneeling and stooping, manipulating objects with hands, reaching overhead, and occasionally lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 45 pounds.
