Emergency Department Services Assistant [United States]


 

Responsible for registration, discharge & order entry on the KPDS mainframe. Assists the nursing & physician staff in managing the patient care flow. Acts as a liaison for patient & family.

Essential Functions:
  • Upholds KP's Policies & Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities & applicable state, federal & local laws

  • Observes Environmental Safety Standards

  • Maintains standards of professional behavior established to enhance quality of service

  • Demonstrates competencies in use of KPDS/OPAS mainframe

  • Demonstrates competence in registration protocols

  • Provides nurse/physician & clerical support

  • Provides bedside flow

  • Provides discharge services

  • Provides teleph1 triage

  • Communicates verbally in a clear & concise manner

  • Demonstrates professional maturity in all interactions w/ patients & staff

  • Able to organize, plan, & set priorities & complete work w/ minimal assistance & within designated work hours

  • Works as a key member of the ED team, under the direction of the nursing & physician staff

  • Follows established service standards as set forth in LMP ABC's

  • That is, Take Initiative, Take Responsibility, Take Care & Take Pride

  • Demonstrate compliance in all above 4 areas

  • Examples: make a positive first impression, protect patient privacy & confidentiality, assume ownership, resolve conflict, show respect, maintain you environment & support your team

  • Assume other activities & responsibilities from time to time as directed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years experience in a medical setting

  • One (1) year experience in hospital or outpatient medical setting

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • CPR certification

  • Skill in handling a multi-line phone

  • Superb customer service

  • General computer knowledge & data entry competence.

  • Varied hours.

  • On-call 8-hours shift - Nights.
